"I see that we are not aggressive enough in our growth strategy, and that makes my guys go crazy,” Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs and Qatar Petroleum CEO Saad Sherida al-Kaabi tells MEES (MEES, 1 November for full transcript). QP has been on expansion overdrive in recent years as it readies for its North Field Expansion (NFE) and snaps up international upstream assets at a dizzying pace. But it’s not enough for Mr Kaabi, who says “we need to step it up further.”
The objective? Mr Kaabi wants QP to be “one of the best, if not the best national oil company” and indeed he thinks the state firm is “becoming more international than just a national oil company” and benchmarks QP against the likes of Exxon Mobil. (CONTINUED - 1989 WORDS)
