Libya’s Ras Lanuf Oil & Gas Processing Company (Rasco) started up its polyethylene plant on 8 October which had been out of service since 2013. The plant is currently operating at full 240 tons/day capacity, Rasco says. Annual capacity is 80,000 tons. Parent company National Oil Corporation (NOC) says a second unit is planned for May 2020, which will help it ramp up to its pre-2011 160,000 t/y capacity (MEES, 16 August). The long-term aim is to “export 60% of production,” NOC says.
