Qatar Moves To Boost Liquefaction Capacity

Qatar announced this week that it is looking to boost liquefaction capacity to handle additional volumes of gas following from the ending of the development moratorium on the North Dome field.

In April, Qatar Petroleum (QP) announced it would develop a new 2bn cfd gas project at the field, implying 1.4bn cfd more sales gas and 50,000 b/d of additional NGLs ( MEES, 7 April ).

Qatar announced the gas would be for export, but didn’t initially specify whether the extra volumes would be accommodated through debottlenecking of existing LNG facilities, new LNG facilities or an increase in shipments via the under-utilized Dolphin pipeline which ships Qatari gas to the UAE and Oman.
