Saudi government nuclear and renewables agency Kacare and Russian state nuclear developer Rosatom have signed a cooperation agreement for work on small and medium sized nuclear reactors and associated infrastructure as part of the Saudi nuclear program.

Rosatom has built the Mena region’s only operating nuclear power plant, in Iran, and has secured agreements to build new plants in Iran and Egypt. It is also studying the feasibility of building two reactors in Jordan. Korea’s Kepco is the only other nuclear technology provider active on a Mena project, building four reactors at a site in the UAE (see table). (CONTINUED - 855 WORDS)
