The EU’s European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) are to give Jordan technical assistance in studying options for phase one of a project to provide desalinated water to Jordan, Israel and potentially the West Bank, whilst transferring water from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea.

Phase 1 of the ‘Red-Dead’ project will, says EIB, comprise an intake facility and desalination plant near Aqaba on Jordan’s Red Sea coast and a brine pipeline connecting the desalination plant to the Dead Sea (see map). (CONTINUED - 292 WORDS)
