Kuwait has added 1.5GW to its gas-fired power capacity with the completion of the Al-Zour North plant in the Kuwaiti sector of the Saudi/Kuwait Neutral Zone. France’s Engie and partners are building the combined cycle gas-fired power station and a linked desalination plant under Kuwait’s first – and so far only – public-private partnership (PPP).

While the 1.5GW power plant delivered its first electricity in December 2015, construction is now complete and the plant is ready to begin commissioning. However, Engie says the 486,000 m3/day desalination plant which is being built alongside is still under construction. (CONTINUED - 965 WORDS)
