Egypt has added another big coal-fired power plant to its list of projects under study. Four preliminary deals are now in place to develop a total 11.62GW of coal-fired capacity, all near ports where coal handling facilities could be built.

These four plants would enable Egypt to displace 1.3bn cfd of future gas demand. But Egyptian gas demand is set to rise strongly nonetheless, given 19.8GW of gas-fired capacity under construction, which will necessitate at least 2.3bn cfd. (CONTINUED - 782 WORDS)
