Saudi Aramco is preparing to award contracts worth an estimated $4.7bn for construction of the Fadhili gas processing plant, according to unconfirmed reports emerging this week. Spain’s Tecnicas Reunidas and UK’s Petrofac are reportedly going to be awarded engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts for the plant, which were tendered in January.

Aramco invited bids for three EPC packages: the gas processing unit, utilities and offsites, and a sulfur recovery unit. Reuters says that Tecnicas Reunidas won the gas processing units and utilities and offsites packages, under contracts worth $2bn and $1bn, respectively.
