Jordan Taps Bumper Aid; IMF Praises Energy Policy

Jordan is on track to receive more than the promised financial assistance from its international donors this year. By the end of July, grants received had totaled $1.06bn, exactly two-thirds of the $1.59bn anticipated in the country’s 2015 budget.

Of funds received in January-July 2015, $633mn was grants, $357mn in soft loans and $72mn in government-guaranteed soft loans, according to Planning Ministry figures. The Saudi Fund for Development and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development jointly contributed $256mn. Japan chipped in $196mn in support of development projects in the budget.
