Iran has raised oil output from the offshore Salman field it shares with the UAE, an official at state-owned operator the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) says, with further increases expected in the coming months. The long-mooted start of gas production from the field is also close, resurrecting hopes – in theory at least – that a long-term deal signed in 2001 for the supply of 600mn cfd of gas to the UAE could eventually see the light of day.

Salman oil output is up 3,000 b/d following the completion of two new development wells, IOOC director for operations in the Lavan Special Economic Zone (LSEZ) Abbas Rajabkhani says, bringing the field’s production up to 63,000 b/d. This total is expected to increase further before year-end with the completion of two new wells that are currently being drilled. As of today, the Iranian segment of the field has 46 oil wells, and 10 water injection wells. (CONTINUED - 339 WORDS)
