Cairo-based Taqa Arabia says it is awaiting final approval from Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy for a plan to supply a 200MW power ship under a $180mn deal. The ship will be moored at an Egyptian port and connected up to the country’s transmission grid via a substation.

In a statement to Daily News Egypt, Taqa Arabia chairman Khalid Abu Bakr says the firm is negotiating with an Asian company for purchase of a power ship and is also looking for a suitable Egyptian port for the vessel.
