Spain’s Repsol says it has found gas in its Sud-Est (SE) Illizi block located in southeast Algeria, near the In Amenas gas plant, which in January 2013 was attacked by Al-Qa’ida-linked militants.

The SE Illizi block is operated by Repsol (52.5%). France’s GDF Suez and Italy’s Enel have shares of 20% and 27.5% respectively. The partners said on 20 April that the Emellel Sud-Ouest-2 (TESO-2) well flowed at 6.2mn cfd on a 32/64” choke at a depth of 1,307ms in the Ordovician layer. Appraisal work will be conducted later to assess the size of the discovery. TESO-2 is the first well of the second exploration program carried out under this licence, which started in January 2015, the partners said. The drilling program includes at least four additional appraisal wells. (CONTINUED - 369 WORDS)
