Algeria and Abu Dhabi were the only MENA LNG producers recording an increase in exports in 2014, according to the latest statistics from the International Group of LNG Importers (GIIGNL).

Algeria helped boost supply from the Atlantic basin, with a 1.9mn tons rise in exports to 12.7mn tons, thanks to the start-up of the new, 4.7mn tons/year GL3Z train at its Arzew plant. However, Algerian output still lingers below overall production capacity remains underused (around 50%) due to supply constraints and growing domestic demand.
