SABIC’s Innovative Plastics unit has opened a technology center at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) in Samsung’s hometown of Suwon, just south of Seoul in South Korea. SABIC says this will target manufacturers in the global electronics/electrical and lighting industries. SABIC’s ‘Electronics and Electrical and Lighting Science and Technology Center’ will “enable us to tap into some of the world’s best and brightest technologists at SKKU to meet the rapidly changing requirements of these industries,” says SABIC executive vice-president Ernesto Occhiello.

“Cutting edge technologies from this center will be a key enabler of SABIC’s strategy to continue helping its customers… deliver solutions that are thinner, stronger, lighter and more efficient, with innovative designs and potentially reduced manufacturing costs.” SABIC IP is SABIC’s engineering thermoplastics division which focusses on products for the electronics, electrical and lighting manufacturers.
