Kuwaiti state firm KNPC has awarded pre-front-end engineering and design (pre-FEED) and FEED contracts of unspecified value for a planned LNG import terminal with 1.5bn cfd of regasification capacity to service the firm Foster Wheeler. The project includes four “full containment” LNG storage tanks, with a total capacity of 720,000 cubic meters. The design allows for the terminal to eventually be doubled in size: 3bn cfd of regasification capacity with 8 storage tanks and a total storage capacity of 1.44mn cu ms. Foster Wheeler says it will work with a local partner and expects to complete its work in October 2014.

Foster Wheeler previously completed a feasibility study for the terminal and helped KNPC select technology for the project and choose the terminal’s location. (CONTINUED - 280 WORDS)
