Mubadala Petroleum, the oil and gas division of Abu Dhabi state-owned conglomerate Mubadala Development, has commenced production at the Ruby gas project at Indonesia’s Sebuku contract. Mubadala has a 70% interest in the project and is the operator, with Total and Inpex each controlling 15% stakes. The development is relatively small: a $500mn investment will yield about 100mn cfd at plateau levels and 250bn cubic feet over the life of the project.

Ruby is connected to Total’s processing facility at Senipah via a 312km subsea pipeline; the gas will supply an Indonesian fertilizer program that is attached to a state food program. In a statement, Mubadala Petroleum CEO Maurizio la Noce said: “Aligning the Ruby project with the priorities of the Indonesian Government…enabled us to advance the project more efficiently, and meaningfully support the growth of the Indonesian economy.” (CONTINUED - 763 WORDS)
