Making their first high-profile appearance since agreeing on a raft of oil, border and trade-related accords late last month, Sudanese and Southern Sudanese ministers told an international investment conference in Vienna, their countries were determined to push towards peace, in a joint pitch for much-needed investment in their battered economies.

“I assure you… we are committed, both countries, not to go back to war. We are committed to talk and talk and talk,” Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs ‘Ali Ahmad Karti said at the ‘Sudan, South Sudan and Europe: Prospects of Cooperation for Regional Peace and Development’ conference on 10 October.
