Israel’s record 1.38GW of renewables additions in 2025 left the country with 8.2GW installed at year-end, while battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity reached around 3GWh. The government expects renewables capacity to rise to 10GW this year and BESS capacity to reach 4.3GWh (MEES, 5 June).
The latest Q2 results from Israel’s main listed renewables developers suggest that most new capacity will come online in the second half of the year. The five firms have more than 6GWh of storage ready for connection, under construction or nearing construction, compared with around 2.4GWh in commercial operation (see table).
