BP has brought the Fayoum-4 well at the West Nile Delta (WND) project onstream at around 80mn cfd, with the Valaris DS-12 drillship moving on to the Ghorab-1 exploration well in early September (MEES, 27 March).
The 31 August start-up came “around two years earlier than originally planned,” Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum says, although it is unclear what original timetable the ministry was referring to. BP drilled a sidetrack to reach additional Messinian reservoir layers at depths of around 3,000 meters, avoiding the need for a separate well or new subsea infrastructure.
