Hong Kong-listed independent UEG says its 130mn cfd gas processing plant at Iraq’s Block 9 in Basra province is now operating at full capacity. The plant was completed in December 2024 (20 December 2024), with the facility capturing associated gas from the Faihaa oilfield and producing 90mn cfd of dry gas and 878 t/d of LPG. Oil minister Bassim Khudair attended a ceremony marking the milestone last month.

Iraq has added several gas processing plants in recent years but still routinely flares associated gas. Power plants switched to liquid fuels this summer as oilfield shut-ins cut gas supply (MEES, 15 May), and also resulted in LPG shortages (MEES, 10 April). Oil production has recovered since July on higher exports from Iraq’s Gulf terminals (MEES, 11 September), which should also have supported sales gas volumes. (CONTINUED - 129 WORDS)
