Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI) signed an agreement with Eni to invest in its new biorefinery in Priolo, Sicily. Dubbed “Project Apollo,” the agreement was signed on 3 February on the sidelines of this week’s Kuwait Oil and Gas Show. The plant will produce up to 500,000 t/y of biofuels including Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF-Biojet). FID is expected in end-2028.
The project marks KPI’s second investment in Italian biofuel production facilities since acquiring a 50% stake at biodiesel producer EcoFox in 2024 (MEES, 22 March 2024). It also builds on a 30-year partnership with Eni that began with KPI’s investment at the 248,000 b/d Milazzo refinery (50%) in 1996. (CONTINUED - 109 WORDS)
