Libya’s NOC announced the reopening of the Sharara pipeline and resumption of operations at the northwestern Zawiya complex on 26 September, marking the end of a week of uncertainty. However, concerns over renewed instability in Libya’s key oil and gas producing region will not dissipate so quickly.

The 725km pipeline feeds the 120,000 b/d Zawiya refinery and the nearby terminal with light sweet crude from the 300,000 b/d Sharara fields in the southwestern Murzuq basin (see map). (CONTINUED - 1287 WORDS)
