Kuwait has increased domestic refining capacity to 1.45mn b/d according to the latest figures from Opec’s Annual Statistical Bulletin. The gains came through a 36,000 b/d addition to the Mina Abdullah refinery’s U-111 CDU unit; the unit now has implied capacity of 300,000 b/d, with the refinery’s overall capacity now standing at 490,000 b/d.
The gains came through a pilot productivity enhancement project conducted by operator KNPC at U-111, where ‘capacity creep’ has unlocked small gains from existing units. (CONTINUED - 83 WORDS)
