During a diplomatic visit to Baku last week, Syria’s interim president Ahmed al-Sharaa signed an MoU with Azeri president Ilham Aliev that would see state firm Socar supply the nascent Syrian government with natural gas via Turkey.

“An agreement was signed with Socar regarding the supply of natural gas to Syria, a step towards energy independence and building strategic partnerships that serve the nation and its citizens,” Syria’s energy minister Muhammad al-Bashir said following the visit. (CONTINUED - 934 WORDS)
