A network of vessels carrying liquified gas snake across the world’s oceans in what was once called Qatar’s “floating pipeline.” Unlike some major gas producers that have dedicated onshore pipelines to export their gas Qatar is almost entirely reliant on LNG tankers to export its massive and expanding gas output.

Because of this, as Qatar’s domestic gas production has increased, so has its fleet. With the emirate now aiming for its largest output increase yet it is rapidly building up its shipping capacity.
