Italian energy engineering firm Maire Tecnimont, in its freshly-released 2023 report, says it is making good progress on a $400mn EPC contract on a plant to extract LPG and other liquids from associated gas output at the Rhourde El Baguel oilfield operated by state firm Sonatrach.

“Engineering and purchasing are in full swing. The production of project materials is fully underway and the first shipments are on their way to Algeria. Work at the construction site has started as scheduled, civil activities are underway, mechanical assembly will begin within the first quarter of 2024. Completion of the plant is expected in the last quarter of 2025,” the Italian firm says. The project, awarded to Maire in late 2022 (MEES, 28 October 2022), aims to process 10mn m3/d (350mn cfd) of associated gas to produce 8.7mn m3/d (310mn cfd) of sales gas, 1,000 tons/d of LPG and 300t/d of condensate.
