Algeria’s Sonatrach signed five upstream engineering contracts on 27 October worth AD90bn ($640mn) as part of ongoing efforts to rejuvenate its oil and gas sector.

Key among the awards is a $400mn EPC contract to Italy’s Maire Technimont which will build a new LPG extraction plant at the Rhourde El Baguel field, located some 100km east of Hassi Messaoud. The plant will be able to handle up to 10mn m3/d (3.65bcm/y) of associated gas to produce 8.7mn m3/d of sales gas, 1,000 ton/d of LPG and 300t/d of condensate. (CONTINUED - 129 WORDS)
