In a politicized move, Iranian state firm Pars Oil and Gas Co (POGC) this week awarded contracts for a planned $20bn program (MEES, 25 March 2022) to reverse declines and boost output at its 750mn m3/d (26.5bn cfd)-capacity South Pars gas field. The field is an extension of Qatar’s North Field, where output is being increased to enable recently upgraded plans to expand LNG capacity by 85% by 2030 (MEES, 1 March).
