Kuwait’s peak electricity demand hit a new all-time high of 16.94GW on 2 August according to official data as temperatures topped 50°C. This marks a 5% increase on last year’s high of 16.18GW, also set in August. It was also 140MW above the 16.8GW forecast made by Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity & Water (MEW) earlier this year. Total generation of 10.61TWh for August was also a new record and 5% above August 2022’s previous annual high of 10.08TWh (see charts).
