Oman’s LNG exports surged to an all-time high of 11.58mn tons in 2022 according to data intelligence firm Kpler. The record was driven by debottlenecking work on Oman LNG’s three-train facility, which appears to have been completed on schedule last year. This allowed Oman to capitalize on surging gas prices in Asia and Europe amid the market dislocation generated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

That dislocation opened up new marketing opportunities for Oman, which exported LNG to Europe for the first time since 2015. Oman ultimately supplied five European countries last year, including Turkey, with the 690,000 tons it shipped to Europe by far the highest figure since 2009.
