Oman’s state-led entity Petroleum Development Oman (PDO: Shell 34%, TotalEnergies 4% & PTTEP 2%) revealed in its recently published 2021 Sustainability Report that the firm has plans for its first wind farm, which will be known as Riyah I.

PDO previously conducted suitability tests on six sites in the south of the firm’s mammoth Block 6 concession area. It says that Riyah I will be “the first of several planned wind projects,” with commissioning expected by Q1 2024. PDO did not provide any other details on the project, but stated that further testing on the area would be required before contracts are awarded. (CONTINUED - 245 WORDS)
