East Med-focused Greek firm Energean is confident of first gas from its 2.6tcf Karish project offshore Israel by the end of this month despite quiet pressure from the US and local authorities to delay start-up until a maritime border deal agreement can be reached with its hostile neighbor Lebanon.

“Currently, the target date is around the week of the 20th of September to introduce gas to the system,” Energean CEO Mathios Rigas told his firm’s 8 September 1H 2022 earnings call (MEES, 16 September).
