Egypt’s renewables plans were boosted this week as a consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power signed a $1.5bn deal to build a 1.1GW wind project in the Gebel El-Zeit region on the west bank of the Gulf of Suez.

The Gulf of Suez is the site of all of Egypt’s 1.6GW current wind capacity (see table) as well as massive wind and solar-fueled green hydrogen and ammonia plans (MEES, 29 April). (CONTINUED - 557 WORDS)
