Iran and Azerbaijan have agreed to double the “annual volume of gas transported” from Turkmenistan via the Islamic Republic in a bid by Tehran to become “a regional energy hub” according to Iran’s Petroleum Minister Javad Owji. The MoU signed by the Iranians and Azeris on 3 June aims to double to 3-4bcm/year (290-387mn cfd) the 1.5-2bcm/y (145-190mn cfd) volume agreed upon last year (MEES, 3 December 2021).
