Algeria And Italy Eye Interconnection

Algeria and Italy have held talks to revive a previously mooted plan to interconnect their power grids, Algeria’s energy ministry said on 23 May. The two sides talked of a potential 1-2GW link between Cheffia in northeast Algeria and Italy’s Sardinia.

Algeria’s energy ministry says that Italy wants to set up working groups to study the project’s implementation and “involve the European Commission to participate in the financing of the project through European banks.” (CONTINUED - 126 WORDS)
