Norway’s TGS is set to imminently begin the second phase of a 3D seismic survey in Egypt’s Red Sea in partnership with oilfield services giant Schlumberger. “Data will be acquired with long offsets and processed using a Pre-Stack Depth Migration (PSDM) workflow to enable subsalt imaging… and will encompass a minimum of 5,000km²,” TGS says.

Acquisition is set to start later this month “with final products anticipated in mid-2023 to ensure availability ahead of future license rounds in the region.” Phase-1 was launched in October last year, covering 6,800km², with final results of the 3D seismic shoot expected during Q4 this year (MEES, 3 December 2021).
