Kuwait’s power demand growth shows no sign of slowing down, with generation yet again starting the year at record pace. The 13.33TWh generated in Q1 is the highest ever such figure, easily outstripping 1Q 2021’s previous record of 13.0TWh.

Although total March generation of 4.89TWh was up markedly from 4.76TWh in the same period last year, peak demand was much lower this year – 8.05GW, down from 9.42GW – reducing the stress on Kuwait’s fleet of power plants. While Kuwait has installed capacity of 20.25GW, available capacity is always much lower and in March was just 12.69GW. (CONTINUED - 726 WORDS)
