Algerian state oil firm Sonatrach this week cited progress at two delayed gas projects in the Illizi Basin being carried out by UK engineering firm Petrofac which at plateau will add more than 5bcm/y.

While the first 10mn m³/d (3.65bcm/y) element of the Tinhert phase-1 expansion at the aging Ohanet field already started up in 2020, Petrofac is currently adding around 1.8bcm/y through the installation of a new gas treatment center. Sonatrach says this has reached a completion rate of 97% with start-up of the project, which will see 36 new wells tied-in, planned for June 2022. (CONTINUED - 267 WORDS)
