Tunisian state power firm Steg on 5 March started up a long delayed 10MW solar PV plant in Tozeur in an initial testing phase, nominally boosting countrywide installed solar capacity to 21MW. The TD25mn ($8.5mn) ‘Tozeur II’ power plant joins the 10MW ‘Tozeur I’ solar PV plant which was connected to the grid in 2019.

Together, the two plants are supposed to meet one third of the province’s electricity needs. But full capacity is not expected until the end of 2023. This is a similar timeframe to Tozeur 1’s testing phase which lasted from August 2019 to March 2021. (CONTINUED - 167 WORDS)
