QatarEnergy has selected American firm ConocoPhillips as the third and final international partner for its highly-anticipated North Field South (NFS) expansion project. ConocoPhillips was announced on 30 October as the winner of the remaining 6.25% available to foreign partners. It joins France’s TotalEnergies and UK-listed Shell, which both hold 9.375% stakes, at the 16mn t/y two-train project. State-firm QatarEnergy retains the remaining 75%.

The NFS project is the smaller second phase of Qatar’s North Field expansion project. Qatar concluded partner selection for the 32mn t/y North Field East (NFE) development in July, and all three of the NFS partners also won stakes there (MEES, 8 July). Once the facilities are fully operational by end-2027, Qatar’s LNG capacity will have increased from 77mn t/y to 126mn t/y. (CONTINUED - 764 WORDS)
