The European energy crisis has transformed Qatar’s export mix, which has traditionally been dominated by Asian markets. Latest government statistics show that Europe accounted for 28% of Qatar’s record export revenues for Q3 as spot gas prices on the continent surged to fresh records in August before falling back somewhat.

Qatar is squeezing additional volumes from its LNG facilities and cashing in on recent record high prices in Europe. Virtually all of the incremental volumes have been shipped to Europe, where Qatar has been generating record export revenues.
