A tanker carrying a cargo of gasoil from the Middle East was attacked 150km off the coast of Oman on 15 November. US Central Command says that the Pacific Zircon was attacked by “an Iranian Shahed-Series” unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) at approximately 10PM, adding that “though there was damage to the vessel, there were no casualties.”

The vessel had previously called at Oman’s Sohar oil storage and bunkering terminal. It is managed by Singapore-based Eastern Pacific Shipping, which stated that “there is some minor damage to the vessel’s hull but no spillage of cargo or water ingress.” Eastern Pacific Shipping is owned by Israeli magnate Idan Ofer.
