Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power announced on 12 October that it has started up operations at the 300MW Phase B of Shuaa Energy 3 in Dubai. Shuaa Energy 3 is the SPV (special purpose vehicle) company developing the 900MW fifth phase of Dubai’s Mohammed bin Rashid (MBR) solar park which groups the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa: 60%) alongside Acwa (24%) and Gulf Investment Corporation (16%).

The start-up of MBR Phase 5B brings Phase 5 capacity up to 600MW, and the solar park’s total capacity up to 1.9GW. This brings Dubai’s renewable capacity up to 14% of the emirate’s total generation capacity, in line with Dubai’s year-end goal (MEES, 8 July). (CONTINUED - 791 WORDS)
