Hong Kong-listed United Energy Group (UEG) on 22 January broke ground on a 100,000 b/d central processing facility located at its Faihaa field.

The field is located at Block 9 on the Iranian border in Iraq’s Southern Basra province. UEG awarded the $593.6mn Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) contract to a consortium of China’s CAMC Engineering Co. and CNOOC Petrochemical Engineering Co. Both companies are state-owned with the former being a subsidiary of China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach).
