Dubai’s clean energy production capacity has increased to 1.53GW and now accounts for 11.4% of installed capacity, with more gains set to come this quarter. Saeed al-Tayer, CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) made the announcement on 16 January.

Dubai’s renewable energy facilities are located at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, where Dewa ultimately plans to install 5GW capacity. The steady expansion of the MBR solar park has driven Dubai’s total installed electricity generation capacity up to a record high 13.4GW (see chart). (CONTINUED - 629 WORDS)
