Not a week passes by when Iran does not experience another large incident. The latest is a massive fire at the 250,000 b/d Shahid Tondguyan refinery south of Tehran on the evening of 2 June. Pictures and videos circulating on social and local media showed large pillars of smoke rising above the Iranian capital. The cause of the fire was linked to a “leak at a liquid gas pipeline” that sparked the fire according to the chief of Tehran’s disaster response unit, Mansour Darajati.
