Speaking to Sky News Arabia on 3 October, Iraq’s minister of oil and INOC president, Ihsan Ismaeel says that his country is discussing expanding Basrah Gas Company (BGC: state South Gas Company 51%, Shell 44%, Mitsubishi 5%) capacity. He praised this year’s “accelerated” momentum on the JV’s $1bn 400mn cfd BNGL expansion (MEES, 2 July) and says current talks are focused on adding an additional “200mn cfd” train. BGC’s capacity stands at 1bn cfd and work is underway to expand this to 1.4bn cfd by 2024.
