Spain imported a seven-year high 219,000 b/d of crude from Saudi Arabia in April as the kingdom opened the floodgates in a short-lived market-share battle with Russia (MEES, 3 April). Spain was particularly hard hit by the global Covid-19 pandemic, and especially so in April. But the impact of the country’s lockdown on oil demand is yet to emerge. Total crude imports for April at 1.252mn b/d is the highest this year.
