Kuwait state refiner KNPC announced 9 March the successful operation of a naphtha unit in the Mina al-Ahmadi refinery, a key element of the massive $12bn ‘clean fuels project’ (CFP) upgrade and expansion of Kuwait’s Mina al-Ahmadi and Mina Abdullah refineries.

Kuwait’s first isomerization unit will process light naphtha (C5/C6) from two existing 33,000 b/d continuous catalytic reformer/naphtha hydrotreater units at Mina al-Ahmadi refinery to produce 30,000 b/d of isomerate product for the gasoline pool. (CONTINUED - 363 WORDS)
