Oman’s state-owned Salalah Methanol Company (SMC) has announced financial closure for a new ammonia unit to be built alongside the company’s existing methanol plant near the city of Salalah in Oman’s southern Dhofar governorate.

The ammonia plant will have capacity to produce 1,000 tons/day, while the existing methanol plant has capacity to deliver 3,000 t/d. Both processes use natural gas feedstock. Ammonia is used in producing fertilizers, while methanol is used to manufacture a variety of chemicals. (CONTINUED - 391 WORDS)
